Promoting green space throughout Sarasota is a high priority for me, so I've been thrilled to advocate for The Bay Park. I had the honor of lending my voice to citizen commentary in a video encouraging the City Commission to approve the Phase 1 site plan... and they did!
The Bay is a multi-phase initiative that has depended on a lot of coordinated community involvement. It will create a unified public space spanning 53 acres along Sarasota Bay, ensuring open access to the bayfront and beautifying the city-owned land that surrounds the Van Wezel. Ultimately, the expanse of The Bay will provide space for recreation, entertainment, and appreciation of our region's beautiful natural assets. I'm thrilled that sustainability is a high priority of this initiative and that the planning has been carefully thought-out to include the perspectives and potential uses for many different Sarasotans.
